At the Charts: DJ Khaled Edges Envision Dragons for Number One

DJ Khaled edged away Imagine Dragons to take Number One for the Billboard 200 as the producer’s Grateful marketed 149, 000 total copies in the debut week.

Khaled’s latest all-star affair gave him his second straight chart topper – following 2016’s Major Key – even though Grateful was largely powered simply by streaming equivalent albums, or SEAs; only 50, 000 units of the 149, 000 haul came from conventional album sales, Billboard reports.

At Number Two, Imagine Dragons’ Evolve sold 147, 000 total duplicates – just 2, 000 shy of Khaled – but produced sales of 109, 000 conventional copies, over double Grateful ‘s total. Evolve furthermore enjoyed the best debut for any rock and roll album in 2017.

Prince’s Purple Rain returned to the Top 10 at Number Four thanks to the album’s remastered and rarities-filled reissue, which sold 52, 000 total duplicates. Only one more new release broke the Top 10: 311’s Mosaic at Number 6.

After three directly weeks of female artists atop the Billboard 200, this week’s Top 10 was bereft of woman artists entirely as all three Number One holders – Katy Perry, Halsey and last week’s champ Lorde – fell out of the top tier.

Kendrick Lamar’s Damn. held steady at Number Three, followed by 2 Chainz’ Pretty Girls Like Trap Songs (Number Five), Ed Sheeran’s Divide (Seven), Drake’s More Life (Eight), Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic (Nine) and the Moana soundtrack at Number 10.

Depending on how the Billboard two hundred tabulates the Tidal streams associated with Jay Z’s four: 44 , the rapper could find himself in a race for Primary against Calvin Harris’ Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 , Stone Sour’s Hydrograd and the Baby Driver soundtrack.

See Tyler, the Creator’s New ‘Who Dat Boy’ Video With A$AP Rocky

Tyler, the Creator has unveiled his new video for “Who Dat Boy,” which features A$AP Rocky. It’s Tyler, the Creator’s first new music since 2015’s Cherry Bomb.

The new visuals are self-directed by Tyler, the Creator’s alter ego, Wolf Haley. The clip opens as a horror movie-styled set up with creepy music to match. The rapper is seen shot from behind as foreboding music plays and flashes of light heighten the suspense. He turns to the camera to question, “Yo, who dat boy?” before running out of the house and down a sunny street where it’s revealed that part of his face is partially blown away. He goes to a neighbor’s house, which turns out to be A$AP Rocky’s home.

A$AP Rocky moonlights as a surgeon in the clip and he begins operating on Tyler, the Creator’s face, but it’s not long before the police come knocking. When Tyler, the Creator emerges from surgery he has a different face stapled over his wounds and the pair escape down the street. Soon Tyler, the Creator is driving away as the police are in hot pursuit. The clip abruptly ends with a tease of a different-sounding tune, which has decidedly more sunny, romantic vibes than the disquieting “Who Dat Boy.”

Last fall, Tyler, the Creator also teamed with A$AP Rocky for A$AP Rocky’s “Telephone” alongside Playboy Carti and Yung Gleesh. In May, Tyler, the Creator unveiled a making-of documentary about 2015’s Cherry Bomb.
